Tale of a Dartmoor Farmer - 20 Sept 2009
It's been a while, I didn't think you guys would want to hear about August, as frankly all I would do is rant on about the weather... We did manage to rip of some silage but I think my cows will turn their noses up at most of it! In human terms it would be like eating soggy cardboard with slug dressing!

Fortunately September came through with a spell of belting sunshine and I can speak for everyone on Dartmoor when I say, thank Christ for that! Got the harvest in and not a bad crop all things considered. Cows may not have to live on Cardboard after all this winter.

We've sold a few sheep now as well. Prices are holding and long may it continue.

Cows have started calving up moor, a more natural sight you won't find, cow grazing, calf hidden away for the first few days in the rushes. Biggest trouble is making sure you don't drive over the buggers with the quad!

Anyway, I better go chop some logs.... Autumns coming!
