Tale of a Dartmoor Farmer - 13 July 2009 |
|
Me and my big mouth.... My last entry to ‘Tale of a Dartmoor Farmer' I ranted on about how nice it was to have good weather... What a fool!
We did manage to make some good silage whilst the weather held, the contracting boys rushed in and out with their convoy of machinery, did a cracking job and gone again. That job must take some stickin mind. They are either going like crazy day and night or parked up twiddling their thumbs. Which is where I am at, we have the other half of our first cut silage to do, and it suddenly seems very much like last year again... But there is nothing any of us can do about it so we've been doin a few tidying up jobs. Out with the power washer and keep cleaning and mending stuff until the sun shines for long enough to save some grass and heaven forbid, make some hay!
July fair at Tavistock Market tomorrow, got a few cattle going so fingers crossed I'll have enough to pay a bill or two! Managed to sort the passports and paperwork today, even numbered the cattle, though I expect they have all washed of in the rain!
Anyway, wish me luck!
